‘Dedicated to the families who have suffered tragedies involving distracted drivers talking or texting on a smartphone and to the frustrated parents with kids playing with their phones and not going outside anymore’
The United States Department of Transportation pointed out that smart phones are involved in 1.6 million auto crashes each year that cause a half million injuries and took 3,142 lives in 2019. One out of every four car accidents in the United States is caused by texting and driving. Texting while driving is 6x more likely to cause an accident than driving drunk.
Just over half of children in the United States — 53% — now own a smartphone by the age of 11 while 84% of teenagers now have their own phone. The totals? More than 7 hours a day for teens, and nearly 5 hours a day for “tweens” ages 8-12.

The maker realized that in addition to the dangers of texting and driving, today’s kids just play with smart phones & tablets and don’t go outside: the actual inspiration for developing the Joe-Yo Coin.
